Who is eligible to apply?
Motivated students from roughly Grade 8 through undergraduate. There's no requirement to arrive with research experience — curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn the computational toolkit matter far more than prior credentials.
How much time does the program take?
Plan for about 10 hours per week across the 6–9 month cohort, including a weekly live online session with mentors and fellow researchers. This is real research, so the time commitment is real — but it's designed to fit alongside school.
Is the program online or in person?
Fully online. Weekly cohort discussions happen over video, mentorship is remote, and all training materials live in the members-only resource library. Students can participate from anywhere.
What exactly does a student walk away with?
A genuine, citable research manuscript authored by the student and submitted to a public preprint archive such as arXiv. We aim to prepare work to the standard of peer-reviewed venues, but — as our guarantee explains — we never promise acceptance, only the submitted, citable output.
What does it cost, and how do I pay?
Registration for the orientation is free. There is a cohort enrollment fee, payable once your student has attended the orientation and been invited to join — you'll see the amount when you proceed to payment. You can pay securely by credit card or e-check using the Pay now button on the Apply page, or by bank transfer (ACH) — just email us.
How do I get access to the resource library?
Enrolled students receive a cohort access code by email once enrollment is complete. Enter it on the Resources page to open the training videos, lecture notes, papers, prior research, and worked examples — all of which we expand every week.
What fields can a student work in?
Computational Neuroscience (our anchor field), Biomedical Engineering, and Electrical & Power Systems. Not sure which fits? That's fine — say so on the registration form and we'll help match you to a well-scoped problem.
How small are the cohorts?
Roughly five students per cohort, deliberately. Small cohorts mean each student gets a genuinely mentored, well-scoped problem and direct attention from senior research scientists — which is why seats go quickly.
